Soledad Garcia 

SOLEDAD GARCIA  

Born in 1977, in the City of Buenos Aires. Her artistic training started with sculpture, ceramics and painting, she then became interested in theatre and completed professional training in acting in 1996.  She completed her studies in Social Work at the Faculty of Social Sciences at UBA (Buenos Aires University) in  2006. While doing her studies she realised puppet theatre could allow her to combine both her social and artistic interests.  

In 2007 she had the opportunity to take part in several workshops on creation, interpretation and direction of puppet theatre. While undertaking the Puppet and Object Theatre at  Universid Nacional San Martin (UNSAM), she founded Cia. La Chirimoy together with Thiago Bresani. They re-enact the mamulengo show “ Historias de Benedito Brasileirinho da Silva” and in 2009 and create a hand puppet show "The Legend of Jaraguá".  Both shows were presented at theatre festivals in Argentina and Brazil. UNSAM in 2010 Soledad obtained her Diploma in Puppet and Object Theatre at UNSAM in 2010 and later on returned to Brasilia.

 In 2012 the company received a grant from FAC  to create a shadow theatre show. In order to allow further dissemination of contemporary shadow theatre in Brazil's Centre-west the company took on the name Lumiato. Soledad currently teaches workshops and presents shows in cultural centres and festivals in Brazil.

 THIAGO BRESAN

   

Born in 1984 in Brasilia. He began his artistic training in 1998 as a member of a circus company; in the role of clown Baleiro he gained skills in juggling, stilts and character development.  Later on, he founded the theatre company Riso Ambulante together with puppeteer Robson Siqueira in the Brazilian Northeast. The primary focus of the company was theatre and circus shows, mostly participating in festivals and performing in schools. In 2006 he learned the techniques of the popular puppet theatre Mamulengo with Mestre Jose de Vina.

In 2008 he moved to Buenos Aires to pursue the diploma in Puppet and Object Theatre at Universid Nacional San Martin (UNSAM). Alongside his training he created, together with Soledad Garcia, the Cia. La Chirimoya.  Together they re-enacted "Historias de Benedito Brasileirinho da Silva", a mamulengo show originally developed by Thiago's previous company as well as a hand puppet show "The Legend of Jaraguá". The shows were presented at theatre festivals in Argentina and Brazil. While in Buenos Aires he also worked with two other companies in their shadow theatre shows. He obtained his  Diploma in Puppet and Object Theatre at UNSAM in 2010 and later on returned to Brasilia.
